Most girls knew that. Most girls also loved dresses – and Sumi was no exception to that statement. Today, she was wearing a pink sundress with ruffles at the hem, and adoring it. The fabric was soft, the dress fit marvellously well, and Sumi could tell that it would soon become one of her favourite pieces of clothing. The dress itself was relatively new; she’d bought it the week before on a shopping trip with her mother and had decided to wear it as she window shopped around Kyodo Mall. She had left home soon after breakfast under the pretense that she would be back a little after lunch. It wasn’t as if Sumi had that much money to spend, anyway; she wasn’t working yet (her mother was convinced that she wasn’t old enough to start having a job) and any money spent was either her allowance or was actually her mother purchasing the item for her. Either way, it wasn’t like Sumi was about to buy anything other than a quick meal at the food court. She knew better than to waste money – money was everything. Books could be read at the store or information could be found on the internet; if she really, really wanted something, she would buy it, but only if she loved it a whole lot. The only things Sumi really spent money on (or asked her parents to buy for her) were video games, clothes, and…that was it, really. Humming softly, her gaze fell upon the bookstore’s sign; grinning, Sumi entered the store, making a beeline for the biology section. The store was fairly quiet, as it usually was, especially early in the morning; that was fine, since Sumi didn’t usually like talking when she was reading a good book. Standing in front of the biology section of the store, she trailed one index finger down each book's spine, smiling privately to herself as she glanced at each title. One finally caught her attention, and, frowning slightly, she pulled it out, loving the feeling of printed paper beneath her fingers. It was a book about koalas; she had recently found out that they were now listed as “vulnerable” on the Red List. The very thought broke the young girl’s heart; apparently, urbanization was one of the leading threats of koalas. How could anyone hit a cute little koala with their car?! It was despicable. Sumi had similar thoughts about any bird or squirrel or any other animal she saw lying on the road; she felt for each and every one of them. Well. She wasn’t feeling nearly as happy as she had been earlier. This was leaving a bad taste in her mouth, the girl decided, and she moved to place the book back on the shelf. She trailed out of the store, smiling a bit more dully than she usually would at the cashier as she passed. She needed something to take her mind off of koalas. Something like…like…clothes? Sumi’s eyes lit up, having caught sight of a clothes store across from the bookstore; she skittered toward it, blue eyes simply sparkling, heart a tad lighter at the prospect of giving her attention to something that was more joyous than the state of koalas.[/style][STYLE=float: left; width: 100px; height: 100px; border-radius: 50 50 50 50; background-image:url(http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q298/ElvenSheWolf/kunogi%20himawari/dragonsquee-xxh02.png); border: 3px solid #BFBFBF; margin-top: 10px;][/style][STYLE=width: 235px; height: 80px; font-family: tahoma; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 10 10 10 10; border-top: 5px solid #BFBFBF; border-bottom: 5px solid #BFBFBF; padding: 10px; margin-left: 115px; margin-top: 10px;]word 000 tags nana notes [/style] |
